Project name: Meeple School: Development of soft skills in the primary school with modern board games

Project number: 2021-1-ES01-KA220-SCH-000034472

Duration: 24 months (01.02.2022 – 31.01.2024)

Coordinator: JESUITINAS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION (Spain)

Financed by: Erasmus Plus programme – Cooperation partnerships in school education (KA220-SCH)

Partners: SCOALA PRIMARA LORELAY (Romania); 6th Primary School of Karditsa (Greece); FUNDACIÓN ASPAYM CASTILLA Y :LEON (Spain)

Project Objective:

This project will develop a game-based learning methodology, with the particularity that modern board games will be used. This methodology has been successfully tested in previous projects by one of the partners, applying it with young people aged 18 to 30 to strengthen social skills for job seeking. However, the methodology has not been tested with children aged 6 to 12 (primary education), where it likely has the greatest potential, as play is an integral part of a child’s intelligence and schemas.

Modern board games involve a greater strategic component and a need for collaboration among players to achieve the goal. Due to these requirements, reflection can be made after the game, analyzing the behaviors that occurred among the players and how their decisions influenced the game’s outcome. At the same time, these games provide an ideal scenario for some students to explain to others both the functioning and the strategies followed, analyzing how information is structured and shared, which is essential for working on key competencies.

Beyond working on key competencies, this methodology will enable the formation of groups of students who usually do not have a relationship, who may have even had disagreements during the school year, or who have simply never met. By using collaborative board games that create cohesion and encourage active participation and listening, inclusion, respect, tolerance, and equality will be promoted.

  • Meeple School Kit – Methodological Guide for Teachers
  • Meeple School APP – for parents and educators

Obiectivul proiectului:

Rezultatele proiectului:

  • KIT Meeple School – Methodological Guide for Teachers
  • Meeple School APP – for parents and educators
